Kamala Harris, the Democrats' Weapon

Let Kamala be Kamala, and see what happens

Kamala Harris is not a problem. The handling of her Vice Presidency is a problem. Various planted stories leaked by Biden’s staff, or her own, are warring in the press, Pete Buttigieg is eager to run and offers half-hearted non-defenses of Kamala when asked to defend his potential 2024 rival, by avoiding saying her name and pouring lukewarm praise on ‘the Administration’ only, with an occasional ‘the VP’ if absolutely pushed. Thankfully, some of her Vice Presidential staff are departing, although we are supposed to read the tea leaves as to whether they jumped or were pushed. And dire headlines about her are everywhere, including the British press.

This is stupid. Kamala Harris was not selected by Joe Biden just because she was a black woman; so was Susan Rice. Being a friend of his son, Beau, no doubt did help Kamala, but she almost blew it (more on this later); but what cinched the selection for Kamala was, surely, that she was cut from Joe Biden’s own political cloth on most things. She was a moderate. She was a prosecutor. ‘Kamala is a Cop’ came the cry from Russia’s friends on the alt-left, and that was supposed to be a bad thing. But Joe Biden knows his politics. He didn’t spend decades as Obama’s Senate whisperer for nothing. He knew that to beat Trump, the Democrats would have to get past the Russia-amplified pincer movement of the alt-right and the alt-left. They would have to get past the idea that they were Bernie Sanders, with his nutso, Moscow-friendly ideas, or Donald Trump, encouraging police brutality against joyriding white rioters and arsonists, who tried to claim legitimate, peaceful black protest movements as their own.

So Biden picked the moderate. He picked the prosecutor, he picked the “cop” who put criminals away. And against the background of burning American cities, with mostly white alt-left arsonists like those in Kenosha whose one job was to re-elect Donald Trump, Kamala was the perfect choice.

Kamala Harris Should Crush the Alt-Left

Joe Biden, as the top of the ticket, faced off against the Dems’ major enemy, Donald Trump and MAGA, as well as the splinter movements like the Proud Boys who, again with encouragement from Russia, would travel to the arson-and-riot hotspots and pick fights with the lily-white alt-left rioters, while alt-leftists made money fanning the conflict on social media. That’s right and good. It’s Joe Biden who led from the front on the ‘Build Back Better’ agenda - against ‘the Squad’ on the one hand (alt-left) and ‘MAGA Dems’ Sinema and Manchin on the other.

But if the alt-right is Enemy No. 1, the alt-left are the Democrats Enemy Number Two. The “Justice Dems”, whose declared aim is to “destroy” the Democrat Party and stop “Russia baiting” [sic], were the ones who pushed Sinema, the egomaniac who dresses like a drunk teenager, in her primary race. If Dems see Sinema only as Blue MAGA, then they aren’t paying attention. It was your “own” “leftists” that pushed her on you. Left may be good (Katie Porter) - Leftist will kill your majorities (Cori Bush).

It’s this wing of the “Democratic” movement that Kamala Harris should crush, because it’s making Democrats unelectable - unless your opponent is Trump. Identity Politics and Twitter Klout are making you unelectable. Here are some home truths; Joe Biden’s approval ratings crossed over into negative territory upon the fall of Kabul and have never recovered. He should, by rights, have gained back a LOT of that momentum when the infrastructure bill passed. You know why he did not?

Because of Kyle Rittenhouse. Because of stupid, klout-chasing, retweet-seeking, identity politics idiots on Twitter.

They raged over a just and unanimous acquittal on all charges including by the only male juror of color. Ignoring every single fact, repeating long-debunked myths, (no, his mom didn’t drive him, yes, he was asked to be there, no, it wasn’t an illegal gun, no, it wasn’t a gun bought illegally for him, no, he was not the aggressor in any one of the incidents charged). Because of Twitter Dems sending tens of thousands of likes to Hollywood stars who praised the first suicidal, multi-time (five-time) child rapist who had been randomly dumped on that corner by an ambulance and who wasn’t even there to riot against black-owned businesses ‘for black lives’ as “JoJo”. Because Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s own supporters, the ones they were RELYING on to should about the Build Back Better triumph from the rooftops, were far too busy clapping each other and virtue-signalling outrage over an obviously just acquittal described as such by all major newspapers.

Golf clap people. Carry on like this and lose.

As a result of the extraordinary triumph of fake identity politics, the only voices talking about the passage of the infrastructure bill Joe Biden worked on all summer were MAGA ones. Only Fox News, Sean Hannity, the Wall Street Journal, and conservative Twitter were talking about it.

Biden’s infrastructure bill was the “answer to Afghanistan”. It sank without trace. His approval ratings stayed right where they were. Unless Trump is the nominee, Biden will have a hard time winning 2024. Harris has lower approval ratings, but she was kept well away from the utter disaster of Afghanistan. The Democrats and the Vice-President have time to turn Harris’s ratings around, which would also help Joe, and the way to do it is obvious.

Kamala Harris Should Lead on Pro-Police Reform and Easing Racial Tensions

Let Kamala be Kamala - a riff on the notorious ‘let Trump be Trump’. It’s hard to describe how toxic ‘Defund the Police’ is. It kills Democrats at the ballot box, and was a slogan dreamed up in Russia so the right could use “Defend the Police” as a comeback. “Critical race theory” isn’t actually taught anywhere, not really, but when MAGA attacks it, Democrats on Twitter, like a hundred thousand Pavlov’s Puppies, obediently leap to defend it, and Glenn Youngkin would like to thank you all very much for making him the Governor of Virginia. ‘Karen’ was dreamed up as insult for white women, one of the Democrats’ biggest voting blocs, in order to alienate white women, make them feel rejected, and push them into the arms of the GOP. By all means, stick up your comments pointing out black women vote more Democrat than white women do. It’s true. But there are a lot more white women than black women in America. And they are your natural voters. Twitter tends to wield this like a club, as if some swing vote white women need to apologize for choosing to vote elsewhere after years of being insulted. No. The Democrats don’t own anybody’s votes. (Nor do the Republicans, as Trump found out to his cost when life-long GOP voters in Georgia and Arizona, McCain country, said “No Mas” to the Orange Clown Show, and did the unthinkable and went out and voted for Joe Biden). The correct response to seeing previously Democrat-voting “Karens” say “GFY” to the party is not to “hit them with that meme of the Real Housewives and the white cat” (thank you Justice Dems) but to win back their vote.

Kamala Harris as Designated Hitter

Kamala Harris was my first choice for President in the primaries. I liked that she was a woman, but she was my choice because National Security is my number one issue and she crushed it on Russia and the Senate Intelligence Committee and I wanted a prosecutor to prosecute Trump. Let Kamala be Kamala. If Democrats actually want to WIN, give America what it needs to hear. This will drive up Joe Biden’s own approval rating if he decides to run again. The only “identity politics” that counts are the ones the Vice President carries with her at all times. Who will call Kamala a sexist when she condemns riots and arson? Who will call her a racist when she says ‘insulting white women is just insulting women. ‘Karen’ is unacceptable. It’s misogynist.’ Who will call Kamala Harris, the decades long prosecutor and criminal expert, ‘anti-BLM’ when, in the wake of the just verdicts on Derek Chauvin and the murderers of Ahmaud Arbery, she invites those case prosecutors to the White House - along with multiple (but vetted) police association meetings? Who will call Kamala Harris a racist when she makes a major speech advocating for more police funds, more police officers of color, for impoverished districts where crime is high? Who will stop Kamala Harris when she goes to poor white rural communities and asks for more money for sheriffs’ departments, local police and FBI Field Offices to stop fentanyl?

Just like Eric Adams, the Mayor-Elect of New York City, Kamala Harris is an African-American with a background in law enforcement - he a former cop, she a former-prosecutor. Both deeply understand racial injustice and the issues with policing. Both also know that what voters, and real-world communities including communities of color, want to hear, is my administration will give you more police on the streets. Kamala Harris can walk and chew gum. She can be the voice of reform AND “Refund” the police. She can say what identity-policy weary Americans long to hear “Enough is enough.” and she can in a way no white vice President - or President - can.
