Prior to these gaffes (fully deserving of your well-articulated wrath, Louise) Garland had seemed to stay far away from the 'RT West' Fox dissinformation talking points stream-- SO his absurd slurping or Durham- a near Nunes-level comically incompetent hatchet man appointed by disBARRment- came as a big surprise, to me at least. Bought? I was equally surprised by another (unnamed) sometimes Guardian contributor and IC source/pundit who recently scoulded anyone who thought that Russia was the evil empire and that they bent the 2016 election for Trump (big "da" (or duh?) for each). I still like his cats, though....
I don’t know what his motives are but he does frequently mention me so I think he is rather enamored of Mr. Durham because he thinks Mr. Durham is coming after me. :)
It’s been quite rewarding watching you and other respected voices taking apart the latest Garland quest for attention. There is nothing more unsettling than his attacks on the FBI & Hillary & his misrepresentation of the Steel Dossier. And…if I remember correctly, even the FBI agents (in the reporting) had mused how completely stupid Carter Page was in spite of his ties to Russia. Garland is trying to cling to relevancy in a landscape that is changing quickly. He’s running out of material. Not once has he backed up his insanity with actual documentation from the case.
